Muriel J. Davidson

Muriel J. (MacDonald) Davidson, age 93, of Columbia and formerly of Andover, wife of the late Russell L. Davidson, died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Windham Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada on October 30, 1921, daughter of James and Hilda (Dowling) MacDonald. Muriel was raised in New Brunswick, moved to Massachusetts in the late 1930's, and came to Manchester in Connecticut in 1941. She and her husband moved to Andover in 1951, retired to Florida in 1992, and moved back to Connecticut in 2006. While living in Andover she was a lioness in the Bolton Lion's Club, a member of the Andover Grange, and a member of the Andover Congregational Church. She was an extremely talented seamstress and enjoyed knitting and cooking. Muriel is survived by her three children, Russell A. Davidson and his wife Edith of Columbia, James C. Davidson and his wife Nancy of North Windham, and Janet Parent and her husband Daniel of Columbia, with whom she made her home; four grandchildren, Scott Davidson and his wife Laura, Jason Davidson and his wife Robin, Nicole Michele and her husband Douglas, and Michelle Parent and her fiancé Trevor Berwick; two great-grandsons, Cole and Chace Davidson; two sisters, Verna Larson of Texas and Jeanette Scott of Florida; many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Also, a special thank you to her care taker of 8 years, Wendy Connolly. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Elizabeth Redding, John MacDonald, and Elmer MacDonald. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 3, at 11:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. A visiting hour will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
