Muriel Lucy Lawrence

Muriel Lucy "Mimi" Lawrence, 70, passed away on September 19, 2024, in Holly Springs, North Carolina. Born on February 20, 1954, in New York, she lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and deep devotion to her family and community.

Mimi dedicated much of her professional life to helping others. She retired in 2016 from Cleveland Vocational Industries in Shelby, North Carolina, after 18 years of service as a Habilitation Technician. In this role, she worked closely with adults with special needs, guiding them toward greater independence and self-sufficiency. Her work left a lasting impact on the lives of those she supported and their families.

Beyond her career, Mimi was known for her vibrant spirit and artistic talents. A creative and fun-loving woman, she found joy in crocheting and sewing-always crafting something beautiful with her hands. Her creations were more than just hobbies; they were expressions of love that she often shared with those around her.

Mimi especially cherished her role as a grandmother. She embraced it wholeheartedly and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Her warmth and playful nature made lasting memories for each of them.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Alvina Lawrence and her children James Lawrence and Arizona Powers; Darlynne (Danny) Altman and children Olivia Lawrence and Natalie Galloway, Connor and Austin Altman; Devonne Eggleston and children Hailee Reid, Joseph Reid, Mark Reid, Hannah Reid, and Joshua Blackman; Marcus (Destiny) Eggleston and their children Gabriel, Kyra, and Jaxxson; and Kaley Eggleston and Shania Jones.

She is also survived by her brother Donald Corie; nieces Debbie Corie and Jean (Barrett) Spring along with their children; nephew Paul Springer (Roseanne) and their children.

Mimi was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe and Norma Lawrence; sister Anita Lawrence; brother Norman Lawrence; and nephew Jay Matthew Lawrence.

Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched-with kindness in her heart, creativity in her hands, and love for her family that knew no bounds.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. A Graveside Service will be held on June 24, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 01:30 PM at Lake Luzerne Cemetary 370 Lake Ave . Family and friends will gather after the service at the American Legion across the street.
