On November 21, 1951, Neomia and Roger Foley, exchanged wedding vows in Sibley, Iowa. It was a journey together that spanned 64 years.
A devoted family woman, Neomia’s children were her pride and joy, and the love for her family extended to her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. Where most grandparents knitted or cooked or demonstrated their love by sending cards, Neomia created cherished memories by playing games, dancing at random times, and making funny videos with the beloved grandkids. These moments of laughter and joy captured the essence of her vibrant spirit and her ability to bring happiness to those around her. Her love of family was so strong that she has not disowned her Republican offspring.
Her strong Catholic faith guided her, offering solace and purpose. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger, her parents, step-father Orrin Hurlbut, son Rodney, and brothers Myrlin, Vernon, Lloyd, and Layton.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Cynthia Ramirez of Sutherland, IA; Teresa (Jeff) Oglesby of Columbia, MO; Mary (Jack) Palmer of Hills, IA; Patricia (Mark) Sickelka of Peterson, IA; Rebecca (Jane Houtz) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Richard (Julie) Foley of Ames, IA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Johnson and Judy Foley; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother Donald Johnson, best friend Margaret Dau, good friend Tim Aberson, and many other relatives and many friends.
