Norman L. Winters

Norman L. Winters, formerly of Gasport, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY.Mr. Winters was born in the Town of Hartland on April 15, 1920; he was the son of the late Frederick and Evelyn (Mietz) Winters.Mr. Winters owned and operated a farm on Chestnut Ridge Road in Gasport for over 50 years. He also worked at Guterl Steel in Lockport for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed his family.He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Graham) Winters and three brothers and one sister: Arthur Winters, Raymond Winters, Margaret Ryan and John Winters.He is survived by his wife, Constance (Burcham) Winters; one daughter, Judy Evra of Henrietta and a former son-in-law, Mark Evra of Henrietta. Also survived are two granddaughters: Karen (Brian) Olewnick of Yonkers and Suzanne Evra of China; one great-grandson, Jacob Olewnick of Yonkers; one brother and two sisters: Darvin (Dorothy) Winters of Gasport, Charlotte Stein of Rochester and Elaine Tibbs of Batavia, NY. Also surviving are four stepchildren: Peter Castricone and R. Wayne (Eunice) Castricone all of Florida, Cheryl (Steve) Caldwell of Medina and David Castricone of Florida and several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law: Jean Winters of Medina and Edna Jean (Terry) MacDonald of Barker, NY.Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Royalton Mt.
