Glenda Mary Montamat DeLong

Glenda DeLong, 81, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was a 1955 graduate of Istrouma High School and worked as a secretary, a real estate agent and in her retirement years owned DeLong's Clocks and Antiques with her husband Richard. Glenda faithfully served the United Methodist Church in each city she lived. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She lived life to the fullest, loved animals and especially loved to dance. She had an infectious laugh and an incredible sense of humor. She is preceded in death by her parents Clare and Elwood Spradley, her husband Richard, daughter Karen DeLong, granddaughter Jana Laurent and son-in-law Larry Blanchard. She is survived by her daughters Penny Blanchard and Marjorie Poor (Dale); sons Gregory (Dorathy) and Louis DeLong; grandchildren Antoinette Brabham (Kenny), Jason Dufour (Jessica), Luke Lazenby (Kristy), Richard DeLong (Lisa), Jennifer Dufour, Elizabeth Danos (Curtis), Brady Blanchard, Lynley Rhodes (Joshua); and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 am on Saturday, February 2 in the Parish Hall of First United Methodist Church Baton Rouge, 927 North Boulevard. A memorial service will follow, conducted by the Rev. Fernie Rivera. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, Hope Ministries or to any charity of your choice.
