Paul Criscillis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2023.
Paul A. "Chuck" Criscillis, Jr., 74, passed away at his home on July 23, 2023.

Chuck was born on June 22, 1949 in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Paul A. Criscillis, Sr. and Anne Bohannon Criscillis. He grew up in Williamsburg, Kentucky, where he attended Williamsburg High School and Cumberland College. He subsequently enrolled in the University of Kentucky, where he obtained a B. S. degree in Accounting.

He began his career at Haskins & Sells (currently Deloitte) in Cincinnati, and was transferred to the New York practice office in 1983 upon being named a partner in the firm. Chuck relocated to Georgia in 1985 and transitioned to private industry as Chief Financial Officer first at Crown Crafts, Inc. and later at Suburban Lodges and National Vision, Inc. In May of 2014, while at National Vision, Chuck was honored as the Atlanta Business Chronicle's CFO of the year in the large private company category. Chuck retired shortly after the company was sold to a private equity firm.

Chuck had a lifelong interest in and passion for music, playing guitar in rock and blues bands from his teenage years on, spending many happy hours rehearsing, recording and performing in bars and at corporate events. He also enjoyed both domestic and international travel. He was a long-time member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church, serving on the Finance Committee for a number of years.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Diane Hedrick Criscillis and his brother, Arthur L. Criscillis.

His memorial service will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Dunwoody United Methodist Church or to the religious organization of your choice.

We always enjoyed our trips to see grandmother (aka "granny" to Chuck), Uncle Paul, Aunt Anne, Chuck and Topper. I remember him having so many records (vinyl, of course) in his room. They were all organized, of course, and I'm sure Chuck could have pulled out just about any artist we could name on the first try. He was older than my siblings and me, so we all kind of looked up to our older cousin. We followed his successes over the years from afar and rarely got to see him. My wife and I were able to make it to our Aunt Anne's Funeral and we reconnected with Chuck, Diane, and Topper. We were lucky enough to be added to Chuck's annual Christmas recap mailing list and always enjoyed hearing about he and Diane's adventures. Chuck was a good man and he will be missed by many, none more so than Diane. We offer our sincere condolences to Diane, Topper, and the entire family. I suspect he has gotten to hear his Lord and Savior say, "Well done, my good and faithful Servant".
With sympathy and warm affection,
Gary and Beth Criscillis

Chuck was an excellent colleague at Crown Crafts. And I enjoyed his guitar playing.
