LONGVIEW — Services for Peggy Easterwood Rateau, 82, of Longview, will be 4 p.m. today, October 26, 2013, at the chapel of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road, with the Rev. Scott Schulik officiating. Burial will be in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3 p.m. today, prior to service. Ms. Rateau passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013, at a local medical center.
Ms. Rateau was born January 21, 1931, in Kaw City, Oklahoma, to John P. and Annie P. Vann Easterwood. She grew up in Laird Hill, lived in Dallas most of her adult life and had been a resident of Longview since 1995.
Ms. Rateau worked for a stock brokerage firm and retired in 1991. She was an RV'er and traveled to most of the United States.
Ms. Rateau was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Ann Bryant; five brothers and three sisters; and very best friend, Bill Elbertson.
Ms. Rateau is survived by two granddaughters, Tammy Lynn Spencer and husband, Ronnie, of Joinerville, Texas, and Melany Ann Vinson and husband, Dana, of Henderson; great-grandson, Gary Lynn Higginbotham Jr. of Joinerville; sister-in-law, Irene Jolly of Glenrose, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Mobberly Baptist Church Building Fund, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75604.
