Rainer Machtans Obituary
On August 12, 2011, Rainer Machtans of Edmonton passed away at the age of 67.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Helga; children: Caroline (Jeremy) Elliott, Michael (Tamara) Machtans; grandchildren: Jacob and Mackenzie Elliott, Sydney and Aaron George; mother Ursula Voss, and brother Dirk (Susan) Machtans and family. Rainer was predeceased by his father Charles in 1969.
A Celebration of Rainers life will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Point Church of God, 720 - 62 Street S.W., Edmonton, AB.
Our loving Husband, Dad and Opa
will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

I met Rainer in 1967 at CFRN. Our working relationship lasted 35 years. I was fond of Rainer and his humor. I remember him as a dependable and trust worthy man, a measure few are able to reach.
Our prayers are with him today.
To Rainers family we offer our sincere condolences.

Helga: There are very few words that will convey our feelings on hearing of Rainer's passing. We will always remember the many years Rainer and I spent together at work and those special days when Valerie and I met up with you at the campground and enjoyed the good times. Our deepest sorrows.

Dear Helga, Caroline, Michael and Family:
We too were shocked to hear of Rainer's passing, especially since he appeared to be doing well with the recent change in medicine. Let it be of some comfort to you that Rainer has gone no further than to God and God is always very near. We may not understand the timing of his passing but there must have been a reason for it, as God makes no mistakes. Cling to the many beautiful memories you have created. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this saddened time.
