Retired Captain Sheila Dixon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 19 to Jun. 20, 2009.
Sheila McIntosh Dixon, age 63, of Milton passed away at Joyce Goldenberg Covenant Hospice Residence on Thursday evening, June 11, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She entered into heaven with family and friends by her side.

Sheila was born in Oakland, California on February 18, 1946. Sheila was a woman who was blessed to be able to travel and work all over the world. She lived all over, but settled down in Milton in her teenage years and graduated from Milton High School in 1964. Then went on to become a Trooper and subsequently she retired as a Captain from the Florida Highway Patrol, but has worn hats of many different trades. She has also been a cosmetologist, a nationally recognized digital scrap booker, wedding cake and cookie designer, and artist of all types, including paintings, baby dolls and teddy bears, pageant and wedding dresses, and Christmas ornaments. Sheila was also very involved in the Milton High School Reunion Committee for the Class of 1964 and has spent many hours ensuring that the reunions were the best that they could be.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father-Fred McIntosh, and her mother-Freda Walker McIntosh, her son-Gordon Eli Dixon, Jr., and her cousins-Terry and Andrea Harding.

She left many family and friends on this earth that will love and miss her. She is survived by her aunt-Virginia Walker Harding, her daughters-Dana Dixon and significant other Chrissy Vause, Adriana Montroy, and Holly Morris and significant other Jeremy Mills.

She had five grandchildren-Lindsay and Aaron Montroy, Cody Walker Dixon, and Madalyn and Connor Morris. Other close loved ones included Gordon and Linda Dixon, Ryan Reavis, Renee and Adam Arnett, Brooke and Evan Parmenter, Debby Dearing, Janet and Larry Brooks, Betsy and Woody Woodbury, Retired Major Daniel and Mindy Parkton, Lt. Sonya Karasek and husband Retired Major David Karasek, Retired Sgt. Tom and Becky Crawford, and Sierra and Christopher Mills.

She also left behind her beloved pet poodle, Inky.

She will have a celebration of life this weekend at Pensacola Beach.

Arrangements are being made and all are invited to come and celebrate her life and accomplishments. If you are interested in joining us to celebrate please email [email protected] for more details. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joyce Goldenberg Covenant Hospice Residence or Milton High School Reunion Class of 1964 in memory of Sheila Dixon.
