Richard Fraser

Richard James Fraser, lovingly known as 'Dick', passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in Laconia, New Hampshire, with his devoted wife and family by his side.

Born on September 21, 1944, in Nashua, he was the cherished son of the late Daniel Joseph Fraser and Annie (Bray) Fraser.

Dick grew up in Milford, New Hampshire, where he graduated from Milford High School before earning a bachelor's degree in industrial arts from Keene State College.

It was at Keene State that Dick met Karen, the love of his life. Their marriage of 59 years was a testament to their enduring partnership. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family and community.

Dick began his career teaching industrial arts in Richford, Vermont, later moving to Fall Mountain Regional High School in New Hampshire. After relocating to Meredith, New Hampshire, he taught at the Huot Technical Center in Laconia for over a decade before founding R.J. Fraser & Sons with Karen. Through this venture, they built and remodeled homes across the Lakes Region. Though successful in business, Dick's passion for teaching drew him back to the classroom as a building trades instructor at the Manchester School of Technology until his retirement in 2010.

An avid outdoorsman, Dick found joy in annual deer hunting trips to Camp #5 in Pittsburgh, New Hampshire, and participating in the Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby since its inception in 1975. He will be fondly remembered for his love of nature and dedication to his family.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife Karen; sons Daniel J. Fraser (wife Barbara) of Londonderry, NH, and David J. Fraser (wife Marlene) of Meredith, NH; five grandchildren-Brendan, Colin, Shannon, Kaitlyn, and Leah; and two great-grandchildren-Liliana and Addison. He also leaves behind his brother Daniel H. Fraser of Tallahassee, FL; brothers-in-law David L. Cloutier and John A. Cloutier; sister-in-law Nancy F. McLean; many nieces and nephews; dear friends; and his special pup, Pepper. He was predeceased by his siblings G. Robert Fraser and Nancy L. Fraser.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ledgeview/Taylor Communities for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life and burial will be held in Spring 2025.
