C.S.M.(Ret.) Richard Henry Lariviere, 79

Palestine, Texas - Richard Henry Lariviere passed away on April 3, 2017, in Tyler, Texas. He was born August 19, 1937, in Worcester, MA and was raised and educated in Worcester. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Grace School and Worcester Boys Trade High School. He was employed at M.J. Whittall Rug & Carpet Company in Worcester. He entered the Army in January 1955 and retired in 1981. He had tours in Alaska, Germany, and two tours in Vietnam and Korea. He was a graduate of Class 5-75 from the Sergeants Major Academy in El Paso, TX and numerous other military schools. After his military service he was employed at Fort Hood, TX by civil service as a Civil Engineer Technician for 13 years before he retired.

Mr. Lariviere was the son of the late Peter J. and Alcida (Bertrand) Lariviere. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert B. Lariviere. Survivors include his sister, Pauline L. Belair and sister-in-law, Shirley Lariviere all from Auburn, MA; his son, Richard J. Lariviere and wife Betty of Belton, TX and his daughter, Tammy D. Campos and husband Frank of Palestine, TX; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren all of the state of Texas. Those who knew him appreciated his friendship and company.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00Noon on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palestine, TX with Father Rajaian Mathias and Monsignor Zacharias Kunnakkatthurra officiating. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Chapel in Palestine with Visitation following from 6:00pm- 8:00pm.
