Robert 'Bob' Hodge

Crete - IL, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Bob's legacy lives on through his children, Stacy, Heather, and Jeff Hodge, daughter-in-law Marie, and his two cherished grandsons, Zach and Gabe Hodge. Bob is also survived by his brother, Rev. Tommy Hodge and sister-in-law Karla Hodge, his sister-in-law Wilma (Ron) Eckhoff, and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Betty his wife of 48 years, parents Rev. AC and Loma Hodge, and sisters Jeanette LaBuda and Brenda Simmons.

Bob and his late wife, Betty, shared a beautiful love story and lived life to the fullest. They showed their children and grandchildren the true meaning of family. Even after Betty's death in 2020, Bob's unwavering love for her stayed with him and gave him strength as he navigated Parkinson's Disease with his children by his side.

Bob had a fruitful career as general sales manager in both the automotive tire industry and bus sales. His "retirement" was short lived as he became active with Crete Township as an elected township trustee, a position he held for several years. He valued his service to his community and cherished friendships made along the way.

Bob's love for his family and friends was steadfast, and those who had the fortune of knowing him and calling him a friend were truly blessed. His love for camping and a good campfire, Butler University Bulldogs (basketball especially), telling of stories and perfectly timed witty jokes, and so much more, reflect his gentle and kind spirit we will keep with us always.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Crete United Methodist Church in Crete, IL, where he's been a longtime member. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's honor may be made to Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinsons.org - Tribute page; or 1-800-473-4636).
