ROBERT A. MATIASEK Robert A. Matiasek, 94, died on March 13, 2008 in Vero Beach, Florida. Mr. Matiasek was born in Benwood, West Virginia and moved to Fort Pierce in 1947 coming from Wheeling, West Virginia. He retired in 1977 as an inspector for St. Lucie County Building and Zoning Department and was a U.S. Veteran serving during WWII with the 8th Air Force in England with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a life member of the Stephen Gladwin, Post #40, American Legion, life member, Eugene V. Lish, Post VFW #1054, American Legion Past Department Commanders Club, Loyal Order of the Moose #1767, Sebastian, FL, life member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #419, Bellaire, Ohio, past member of the Florida Highway Patrol Auxillary, member of Voiture 334 of the 40 & 8 of St. Lucie County. Robert also held many offices including, State Commander of the American Legion, Commander of Post #40 American Legion, Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8, Voiture 334, District and Area Commander of the American Legion and held several National Appointments of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA/ Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. Survivors include daughters, Nora Marie Fleming and Adele T. Woodard both of Vero Beach, FL; son, Robert J. Matiasek of Vero Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Services: Visitation was held on Monday, March 17, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Haisley Funeral Home. A service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service. A guest book may be signed at www.haisleyfune ralhome.com
