Merri,Collene and Katie; Our condolences to you all for your great loss.We are so sorry.Although we are neighbours way down on the opposite side of the cul de sac---we never got to know you well.(we are unfortunate for that) But we can say that everytime Rod drove past our house, and he would see us outside, he had an infectious smile and friendly wave.

Hey my beautiful brother!
I miss you so! I know this is everyone’s story; but I didn't want you to go! I just found you! I had a lifetime of memories to make up for!!! We are taught by society from the time we are children that some things in life just can not be understood and therefore we must simply accept them as that . . . a mystery. You, Rod, are my mystery. From the first time I met you, Merri, Collene and Katie (along with our fabulous sister Gidget, our brothers Doug, Steve and their families) I loved you all!! It was like spontaneous combustion . . . my heart exploded and I instantly knew I was a part of something absolutely fantastic!! I am soo honoured to say I am your sister! I have learned so much from you; like always do your best, be strong when you have to be, face your fears, work hard, play harder and love like nothing else matters!! Thank you for sharing stories about our mom and your childhood with her. I will cherish forever the few moments that we have shared in this lifetime!!! Your vibrant light is deeply embedded into my life and in the life of your nephews (Colton and Carston) and your step-niece and nephew (Ashley and Jordon). My heart is sad, but I know in time the sadness will pass, and then I will see clearly ALL the beauty of your life; as I hold dear my memories and share in the memories of others who knew you!!! The legacy of your character lives on in us all!
Love for always and ever, Debbi

PS Merri, Collene and Katie: Merri you will always be my family . . . my sister!!! Collene and Katie I love you sooooo much!!! Be all that you can be, and know that your daddy is always going to be with you because you are both a part of him!!!

Rod, I never got to know you personally but on the occassions we talked you always had a bright smile - THAT I'll remember. You are the most currageous person I have ever met and the most positive. I will have to get to know you better through stories from Merri and friends - better late than never. Merri, stay strong, things will look up eventually. Remember he is pain free. I'm always available for a hug, a shoulder to cry on, words of encouragement, or an open ear to listen to you. Lots of love to you, Collene and Katie.

Merri and Kids,
Our condolences on your loss. I had the good fortune to know Rod from elementary school and up, even lived on the same street for a time, Block Drive on the 108 Ranch. I never met a better pitcher of the softball than Rod. While we were never close, he always had time for you and you were a friend no matter what. My families prayers are with you and yours during this difficult time.

Rod was an outstanding man whose company wil be sadly missed. I spent some gruelling says in Drumheller with him on a steam locomotive and we laughed, laughed and laughed some more at life, people and life!! His perspective and presence is a treasured gift for us all. Sincerest thoughts to the family he loved so much.

Good-Bye My Smiley-Faced Friend,
You will be sadly missed by all who met you, but never forgotten. You showed people how to love life and live happy. We were all hypnotized by your fire. So long Rodney.

Rod will most certainly be sadly missed. I had the honour of making Rod hundreds of 'chocolate milkshakes' over the years! He would jump into my truck, order his drink, then look around for someone else to buy a drink for. A man of endless optimism, stagering energy, and an infectious smile. He was constantly generous and kind. "Rody Rody he's our man, if he can't do it no one can!"

Contagious joy, enthusiasm and laughter...no mistake, we're all talking of the same unique person.
While I am deeply saddened to have lost a great friend and teammate, I feel honoured and enriched for having known Rod. Did you ever notice how fast he moved and talked; like there was an urgency to live as much as possible everyday. Thanks Rod for all you gave in this life.

I've known Rod since elementary school and became great friends with him in high school. We shared a lot of good times and kept in touch through the years. Rod was always a fun person to be around and I could always count on him for getting me out of a jam. I am proud to have called him my friend and I will never forget him.
Merri, may you have the strength to face each new day and focus on those two beautiful girls of yours. Remember that Rod is still here in spirit and watches over you, Collene and Katie everyday.

Dear Merri, Collene, & Katiana:
I went to High School with Rod through to graduation and although we were not super close, he left a lasting impression on myself and I'm sure the majority of our class. He always had a smile, and had that goofy, contagious laugh. The last time I saw him was at our high school reunion where he made all the guys envious with stories of his work. Isn't it every guys dream to blow things up & get paid for it? It's inspiring to hear how he lived his life- so much in an unfairly short lifetime. My heart goes out to you all, may you find strength in the memories you have. You're in our prayers,

Rod,

For the times that we've worked together, I say thank you for your great spirit and ever-ready smile. Myself, friends and colleagues are saddened, but more so moved to praise a man who was a great joy to be around and work with.

I wish you wonderful travels and I know that you are embracing Merri, Collene and Katie in your infinite smile.

What a unique person Rod was in a way that most people can't understand. How can one person be happy with a smile on their face 24/7, is that possible? Well for Rod it seemed that way (even if he was having a bad day he wouldn't let it show). We will miss hearing the smart remarks or even just the big wave as he drove by in his truck. Rod always seemed to be happy about something, it was infectious! I know Makena will miss the ice cream trips and the horsing around with Rod as well, she thought he was great! We will miss his street hockey games with the "BIG" boys on the street and his generous heart. Merri, Collene & Katie you know we love you guys and you all have a very special place in our hearts....and of course Oscar too!

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Rod, you first came into our lives 14 years ago... Wow what an adventure it has been! We have had a lot of laughs as well as a lot of tears, one thing that will never be forgotten is your laugh! The first time we met you instantly become an uncle to James and Chantel, you gave them support and guidance throughout there lifes! The memories that you have left with our family will never be forgotten, and will always be missed. I will never forget the day that you and Merri came home from the hospital with Kati, I was standing in your front yard with Collene and you came driving down the street with the biggest smile on your face, "You were the proud papa with your new daughter"! I remember the Holiday dinners, we had to buy the biggest Turkey because no one could eat like you! Looking at the way Collene eats she will carry on your legacy!
Rod you will be missed but never forgotten!

Love
Chris, Leanne, Chantel & James!

As you move through life you meet many new people, forget some and remember others. Then there are some that really jump out as something a little more special. Rod is one of those people. Playing hockey with Rod would inspire you with his positive nature, hard working determination and off course his cheerful smile. Most of all Rod inspired me with his courage and I will always remember him for that.

I met Roddy playing hockey for the Posse and the Hurricanes. He was always up beat and always had a smile on his face. I feel i'm very blessed to have met such a positive individual. When i played on his line in hockey I had to try and keep up with him because he did everything at full speed so I usually didn't get on his line till mid way through the season when I could keep up to him. Roddy you will truely be missed but definatly not forgetten. I won't Forget your smile and laugh in the dressing room buddy.

I met Rod through the movie biz and i will never forget him. He welcomed me with a smile and he always made the long days go a little faster. We had a great working relationship, He loved to tell me waht to do and i loved to test my strentgh against his. We all know how that little competiom would turn out but he made losing fun.
As Jerry O'connell wrote "To Rod. THE hardest working man in show business. Love ya"
I could not agree more. We will meet again and i look forward to it.

What a unique person Rod was, a one in a million! Is it really possible for someone to have a smile on their face 24/7, in Rod’s case YES! In the four years we’ve known Rod we can honestly say there has not been a time when we didn’t see him with a smile on his face (even when he may not of been feeling well). We will remember the smart remarks he’d yell from his truck as he drove by or a honk & wave…there was never a time when he wouldn’t wave or slow down to say a quick hi. We’ll miss the street hockey games between the “BIG” boys on our block and Makena will miss the ice cream trips or just horsing around in the yard with Rod as well, she thought he was great! Merri, Collene & Katie you all have a very special place in our hearts and we love you guys…and Oscar too!

Rod will be missed greatly and will continue to make us all laugh and smile with the silly things he would do and say. I pray God fills you with strength and courage to go on without him beside you...and to remember that you carry him in your heart everywhere you go. He will always be watching over the 3 of you. I am thankful that I got to meet such an amazing person. We love you and are always here for you. Gina & Riley

Hey Buddy,
I know we have had many cool & exciting adventures together, and I cherish each moment and memory. Sadly, this is one adventure youre gonna have to make on your own. No-one seems to understand why you were choosen to go, in fact everyone agrees that it is JUST WRONG that you make this jouney this early. The way I see it, is with whats going on in this world heaven is probably short a few angels, and have called you up as a replacement. Talk about going to the big leagues!!!!Rod I know you are looking down and smiling, ( in some cases laughing) at us and I'll make you a deal. You look in on us from time to time and be there to meet me when I finally take that trail, and till then I'll keep watch down here. There will never be another Rod, but your positive outlook, infectious smile and strong values have already besieged hundreds, and that legacy makes this world a better place. I miss you already, but you'll never truly be gone cause we all have a little piece of you in our hearts.
See you down the trail.
