Obituary for Earl Roger Lawler
March 29, 1952 - January 25, 2025
Earl "Roger" Lawler, of Dallas, Georgia, passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on March 29, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of Evelyne Rush Lawler and Emmett H. Lawler Jr.
Roger began his career as an auto mechanic after graduating from Dekalb Technical school. He joined AT&T/Bellsouth in 1980, where he worked for 37 years. During his time at the company, he was recognized with the prestigious AT&T Medal of Valor for his extraordinary performance of heroic action in an emergency situation.
Outside of work, Roger was a passionate Harley Davidson rider and shared many unforgettable memories with a close-knit group of friends. He also embraced the joy of spreading holiday cheer by playing Santa Claus for family and friends, bringing smiles to countless faces during the Christmas season.
In his later years, Roger found comfort and purpose at Wellstar Paulding Nursing Home, where he became a central and beloved figure. His gentle spirit, compassion, and deep care for his fellow residents left a lasting impact. Though his absence will be deeply felt, we take solace in knowing that Roger is now free from pain, and we have God's assurance that we will be reunited in Paradise.
Roger is survived by his brother, Rush Lawler and wife Dottie; sister, Rebekah (Becky) Parker and husband Steve; five nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished.
