SEYMOUR JOSEPH SIMONS

SIMONS SEYMOUR JOSEPH SIMONS, World War II Army Veteran. On the afternoon of August 14, 2015 after a long and good life, Seymour Joseph Simons of Cleveland, Ohio, died peacefully at the age of 97 surrounded by his loved ones. The youngest of two children, he was born on December 7, 1917 to Max Simons and Margaret Leiter Simons in Cleveland and lived there his entire life. During World War II Seymour proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in France. After the war he returned to Cleveland, where he met and fell in love with Jean Weinberger, a young woman from Vienna, Austria; they were soon married, a union that lasted 67 years until her death in 2013. For the last 35 years of his life Seymour was a successful commercial realtor. Si served the Jewish Community as an officer with B'nai Brith. In his spare time he enjoyed sailing and fishing on Lake Erie on his sailboat Nautilus, and traveling, especially to Europe and the Islands. He was a devoted family man, and is survived by his three sons: Michael and his wife Mary, Gary and his wife Elena and David. Memorial services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS., on Monday, August 17 at 1 P.M. Reception/Shivah right after at Corky and Lenny's Restaurant on Chagrin Blvd. from about 2 to 4 p.m.
