Although Stella would try to have you believe that she was only 37; she did in fact live life to the fullest for 78 years. During the last six weeks, she fought heroically after undergoing necessary, high-risk surgery. Unfortunately, the many post-surgical complications rendered her body uninhabitable and Stella decided to embark on her next great adventure; that of discovering what lies beyond life. Stella's true talent was her ability to make even strangers feel special. She was always full of warmth, mischievousness, charm, kind words, a hilarious sense of humour, and a keen sense of adventure. Raised during the Depression, Stella was one of seven children. She was predeceased by all but one of her siblings, Mary, with whom she has shared much love and many great times and adventures. In her early 20's, her first marriage resulted in two amazing gifts: her son Fred (Scanlan) and her daughter Donna (Conway). Her life became complete when she met the love of her life, Roman Haas; someone with whom she would share 50 years of love, accomplishments, and fun. Later she would become the proudest grandparent to Elizabeth, Paul, Maureen, Jillian and Kathryn Conway, who lovingly referred to her as "The Red One". Stella accepted no boundaries in her professional life. She was the first female stockbroker in Canada and continued her career in a manner that led to her becoming an esteemed member in the financial community. Although her professional accomplishments were important to her, she equally valued earning the respect, trust and lifelong friendships of her peers. We welcome you to Stella's Funeral Service and reception, her last earthly adventure, which will be held at the Bashaw United Church in Bashaw, Alberta on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. As Stella was anything but dull, please wear something colourful to her service. And remember: Red is Best.
