Theresa at Chatanika Lodge 2006
Pete (other half of Zephyr)
December 6, 2017
Theresa started playing professionally in 1985 at the age of 19 in the duo Full Circle and first came to Alaska as half of Zephyr in 1988 to play in Cordova, Valdez and Ketchikan, but the first place she ever played in Alaska was at Chistochina Lodge on the Tok cutoff on the way to catch the ferry for Cordova and play at the Reluctant Fisherman there. She also performed at the old cash store in Copper Center for the 4th of July.
She returned to play in Valdez during the oil spill in 1989 where Becky, the main bartender at the Acres Bar, suggested that they needed to go meet her brother Ronnie at Chatanika Lodge. After a couple months at the Black Bull Lounge in Anchorage they drove to Chatanika during the -50 below spell in November 1989.
After playing one weekend, they proceeded on to Ketchikan again and also played in Haines before heading back up to Chatanika for their first Chatanika Days in March 1990.
It was always assumed that to live in Alaska would mean to live in Haines, but Chatanika beckoned and she flourished there. None she met will ever forget her.

Everyone loved Teresa. I know she has been heartbroken since Sam's passing. Next time I see a star twinkle in the night sky, I will think its her....R.I.P., your sun has set way too soon....

Theresa will be dearly missed. She was a friendly person and a wonderful singer. We went to listen to her sing often at Chatinika. She was great to recognize her many friends and often would sing their favorite songs. Warmest Regards to her family and friends.

Please take comfort that Theresa is in the safe memory of God who is "the source of life" Psalms 36:9. He is the One who gave life to all living he is certainly capable of restoring life to our loved one.
May your family find comfort and peace through family and friends.
