Thomas Buckingham

Buckingham, Chief Quarter Master Thomas Alfred ESCONDIDO -- Thomas Buckingham, 87, passed away on May 14, 2014 at his home in Escondido due to heart failure. He was a disabled veteran. Tom joined the Navy when he was seventeen and began training for the invasion of Japan in 1945 as a Radio and Signalman Specialist. He also served in the Korean Conflict. Tom retired from the Navy after 20 years and went to work for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier for 18 more years. He retired early due to chronic C.O.P.D. and heart problems. Tom was an honorable man who loved his country, the Navy, and his loving family. He was laid to rest in his Navy Chief's uniform in the family plot in Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, CA, with full military honors, with family and friends attending.
