Thomas LAYCOCK Obituary
November 12, 1933 – April 6, 2018
Bob passed away with family by his side after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by Eileen, his beloved wife of 60 years. Mourning his passing are his two daughters, Gaylene (Greg) Johnson and Joan (Allan) Kovacik; as well as seven grandchildren, Geoffrey (Kendra), Blaine (Sydney), Emily, Kevin, Julia (Jon), David, and Alycia. Also mourning his passing, is his older sister Hazel, her husband Jack, and their sons and families. Bob started his work life on the family dairy farm near Calgary, followed by time spent owning his own business related to animal husbandry. He was a long-time volunteer in the credit union movement and changed careers to become an officer in the loan department of Tuxedo Savings. Bob succeeded at anything he started, although he referred to himself as a "Jack of all trades, master of none." His family and friends were the lucky recipients of his plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to support the Parkinson Association of Alberta, if they so wish. A memorial service is scheduled April 13, at 1:00 p.m., at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1009 15th Ave. S.W. Calgary. I worked with Bob at Western Breeders Service at Balzac for numerous years and prior to that I can remember Bob as our A.I. technician on our dairy farm at Conrich. Bob was a pleasure to work with and I can confer that he was a Jack of all trades. Bob was a leader in bringing frozen bull semen to the livestock producers in the rural Calgary area.I pass on my deepest sympathy to the Laycock family.

I only got to meet Bob, through Joan, a couple of times but in those brief exchanges, he managed to convey the essence of a down to earth, decent person. Condolences to all.
