Thomas L Purcell

Thomas L. Purcell, MD, 70, of Groveland, FL was born November 14, 1944 in Jersey City, New Jersey and passed away March 29, 2015. Dr. Purcell practiced Internal Medicine in the Palm Beach, FL area and was a pioneer in the field of addiction and the first Addictionologist in the State of Florida. He was a friend of Bill W. for 38 years. He retired in 2000 and moved to Groveland in 2005. An educator, artist, pianist, and philanthropist, his talents were varied and he was a friend to many. He was passionate about helping neglected and abused animals. Above all, he was most importantly, a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include: wife Sheila J. Purcell of Groveland; his brother Bob Purcell of Columbia, NJ; his daughters Lauren Walker and her husband Paul; Jennifer and Tom Secore; and Allyson Purcell-Stecina and her husband Stephen; and his two granddaughters Emma Grace and Sophia Marie Walker.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Cremation and Event Center 754 US Hwy 1 North Palm Beach, FL, 33408.
