Thomas Gene Wiggins

Thomas(Tommy) Gene Wiggins left these earthly bounds and began his journey homeward 01/06/2023. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew Jess Wiggins and Lucy Fowler Wiggins; sister Kathleen Culpepper(Wiggins) and husband Garland Culpepper; brother-in-law Tom Price.

Tommy grew up in the Port Norfolk section of Portsmouth, VA. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Frederick Military Academy. He served in the US Navy from 1961-1963. He was General Manager of Bob Crumpler Nissan for many years. Tommy had a remarkable genius with numbers which served him well in his later pursuits.

Tommy lived his life on his own terms: very independent and played by his own rules. He was an old school Southern gentleman, a devoted companion, and a loyal friend. He had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. He did not suffer fools easily, and was quick to let you know it. But he had a kind heart and would help anyone in need.

Tommy had an aptitude for auto mechanics and for a time served on pit crews for local racers, including once for Lenny Pond. He was an avid golfer, pool player, and card shark. He always enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with his friends and spent hours at a time beating the house at blackjack and poker. Tommy loved playing baseball in his youth and watching games on TV. Although an early Dodgers fan, he became a reluctant Cubs fan in his later years and was pleasantly shocked when they won the 2016 World Series. Go figure.

Tommy developed a love for travel as he got older and got great pleasure visiting the Outer Banks, NC, Savannah, GA, Asheville, NC, and his beloved Sylva and Cullowhee, NC, where he spent many summers in his youth.

Tommy loved his family and friends and was very proud of his daughter Lori's many accomplishments.

Tommy is survived by: CAPT Lori A. Wiggins, United States Public Health Service; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Rose Wiggins; sister, Marguerite Price; and kindred spirit/cohort in shenanigans, Katherine Burton.

Tommy was not much on ceremony, so there will be a private service held. In his honor, just raise your glass and smile...Godspeed Tom...see you on the other side.
