LYNN — Mr. Ulysse E. "Uly" Belliveau, 67, of Lynn, died Monday, April 6, 2009 in North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband to Marie T. (Hebert) Belliveau, with whom he shared over 44 years of marriage.
Uly was born and educated in New Brunswick, Canada, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Esther (Arsenault) Belliveau. He came to the United States in 1961 and resided in Waltham where he met his wife Marie and then moved to Lynn where they resided for the past 32 years.
Uly worked as a Maintenance Machinist Lead Man for Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation in Wakefield for 46 years and was to retire in May of 2009. He worked tirelessly and sacrificed everything for his family. The men and women who worked with him loved him dearly and saw him as a brother, a role model and a great man. He considered these men and women as his family and loved them as if they were all his brothers and sisters.
He was a longtime member of the Crystal Community Club in Wakefield. Here again are men and women who adored him and looked forward to seeing him every day, as he did them. This was also a group of people that he considered family. Over the years, he forged lasting bonds of friendship that can only be described as true devotion. He was also very active with the North Shore Cancer Center and the Annual Cancer Walk. He truly respected the work that the Cancer Center does to help all cancer patients and he became fast friends with the technicians, doctors and nurses who helped through his battle with prostate cancer last year. He loved to go back and visit them whenever he had a chance.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Shirleyann Soltys and her husband David of Merrimac and one son, Ulysse J. "Uly" Belliveau and his wife Tina of Antioch, Tenn. He had one grandchild, Damien Belliveau. He is also survived by his two beloved dogs, Koko and Tiny, and one granddog, Patrick.

Dear Marie,
Felicity and I are very sorry about Ulysse's passing. Remember you well when you lived in Waltham and helped us out when our twin sons were 4 and our daughter was an infant. We lived in Wayland at the time. Take care of yourself, and know that you and Ulysse are in our prayers.
Peace,
Jim & Felicity Bowditch
