Venita Reininga Obituary
She was born December 1, 1923, in Evansville, Indiana, to Henry C. and Sadie (Herrel) Meier.
Venita was a lifetime member at Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed in 1937. She was a Sunday School Teacher and an active participant at church retreats. Venita was employed at the Holiday Inn for 37 years. She was instrumental in opening the first Holiday Inn in Evansville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Meier.
Venita is survived by her husband of 75 years, Alton Reininga; sons, Terry Reininga (Glenna) and Alan Reininga (Paula); daughter, Kathleen Gilkey; sister, Lillian Gerichs; grandchildren, Lara Porter (Nick) Tara Green (Derek) and Heath Reininga (Jaime); great grandchildren, Jessica Porter, Abigail Green, Ethan Green and Madison Reininga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt, officiated by Pastor Stan Temme; with burial to follow. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel and Thursday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
