Victor "Vito" Giorgio

RCA physicist, 82 Victor 'Vito' Giorgio, 82, of Pine Brook passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. The funeral will be from the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 8:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be offered at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 113 S. Center St., Orange, at 9:30 a.m. Tributes and remembrances may be offered at www.mem.com. Victor was born in S. Andrea Di Conza, Province of Avellino, Italy. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1938 and attended schools in East Orange. He received his B.S. in physics from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, and his master's from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken. As a physicist, he worked for 25 years in the Solid State Division of R.C.A., Somerville, retiring 20 years ago. Prior to that, he worked in the same capacity for Raytheon's Micro State Corporation and Chatham Electronics. Victor had a passion for classical music and was a self-taught musicologist. His other passion was his beloved Green Bay Packers and he traveled many times to Lambeau Field to attend games in Green Bay, Wis. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ida (nee Salerno); sons, Pasquale and Aurelio; daughter, Assuntina; sisters, Maria Giorgio and Enza Salierno and her husband, Elvidio and many nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
