Victor Lukas, age 63, of Shadow Lakes, formerly of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in Chicago.
Born June 4, 1951, in Joliet, Victor was a son of the late Helen (Hamerla) and Joseph Lukas. He was raised and educated in Joliet, and was a graduate of Joliet Central High School with the class of 1969.
On December 12, 1987, Victor married Gloria Jean Johnke in Joliet. He was employed as a welder for Rovanco Piping Co. in Joliet for 24 years, and was an active member of Pathway Christian Fellowship in Shorewood.
Victor was fond of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and going on nature walks with his wife. He enjoyed singing and being part of plays in the church. Some of his other favorite interests were playing horseshoes and beanbags, reading, and will be most remembered for his passion for family, friends and life.
Victor is survived by his wife of 26 years, Gloria; nine children, Victor (Monica) Lukas, Jr. and Johnny Joe Lukas, both of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph (Melissa) Lukas of Rockdale, Jonathan (Sonjia) Lukas and Delvina Lukas, both of Joliet, Matthew (Meagan) Lukas of Melbourne, Florida, Jason and Justin Romeo, both of Florida and Christina (Mike) Cottingham of Indiana; twenty grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Heather, Desiree, Amber, Joseph Jr., Sarina, Arthur, Alejandro, Christian, Izabella, Natalja, Matthew II, Madison, Roman, Hannah, Emma Jean, Eliana, Alexis and Luke; two brothers, Dennis and Joseph (Georgia) Lukas Jr., both of Joliet; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Ricky Carr of Indiana.
Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Walter Lukas.
Per Victor's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral Service is Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 10:00 am at Pathway Christian Fellowship, 19554 Northwest Frontage Road in Shorewood. Pastor Jim Revelle will officiate.
Preferred memorials can be made as gifts in Victor's memory to the family for their distribution.

Gloria and Family, Vic was such a kind and caring man. We have to share this moment during one of the many choir or play practices at church. We realized our heritage (Vic-polish, Kris-slovenian)and our connection to polka music and shouting "Hoya, Hoya" while listening to it. It became our special greeting.
