WESLEY DAWSON Obituary
Feb. 20, 1921-August 1, 2010 Wesley James Dawson Jr., beloved husband of Ruth Johnson Dawson for 65 years and faithful father of daughter Ann Boehm, and sons Jay, Robert, Mark and Michael Dawson died on Sunday afternoon, August 1st, at the age of 89, surrounded by his family. Wes and Ruth, were long time residents of Franklin Park Borough in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. Born on February 20, 1921 in Youngstown, OH to Wesley James Dawson and Emma Dietzel. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald Dawson. Wes is survived by his wife, Ruth, his youngest brother Eugene, 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Wes and Ruth met at Hiram College in Ohio in 1940 and were married in Unionville, Ohio in 1945. Wes spent his working career at Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. and its subsidiary Moody's Investors Service, retiring after 39 years of service in 1983. He closed his career in Pittsburgh, where he moved in 1965. Prior to that, he and his family resided in Ohio, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, and was a job training counselor for the Priority Two ministry at North Way Christian Community Church. Both he and his wife enjoyed community service delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at Passavant Hospital, singing in church choirs and teaching Sunday School over the years. Spending time with family was his greatest joy. All of his children and grandchildren wish to gratefully acknowledge the legacy that has been passed on to them in the form of a life- long example of faithful service to God, his wife, family, church and community. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers gifts may be made in Wesley Dawson's name to North Way Christian Community, Wexford, PA. There will be a visitation at North Way Christian Community Church at 12121 Perry Highway Wexford, PA 15090 Tuesday August 3rd from 6 PM to 8PM and a memorial service at the church on Wednesday August 4th at 11AM. Private family burial will take place Thursday August 5th in Unionville, Ohio.

Dear Ruth, Just last week I was remembering the many times Wes brought fresh flowers to the Crisis Pregnancy Center to brighten up our waiting room! He would bring beautiful gladiola's from your garden. That was almost 20 years ago yet it made such a lasting impression. It was one of the many ways that Wes brightened our lives over the years. He now knows the fulness of God's glory while we still see dimly.
