BLAKE, William H., quintessential gentleman and gentle man, formerly of Jane Lew, W.Va., passed away on April 28, 2021, at The Crossings at Bon Air, a retirement community in Richmond, Va.

Born in Clarksburg, W.Va., on October 2, 1926, to Jessie Leola Talkington and William C. Blake, Bill graduated from Jane Lew High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was then employed by Consolidated Natural Gas Supply for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, June Hitt Blake.

Bill married Joanne W. Powers of Charleston, W.Va., on January 13, 1996. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two daughters, Nancy C. Bryant and Sarah Wrenn (Mike); twin grandsons and three great-grandsons. He is also survived by four stepdaughters, seven stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Everyone that knew him will remember him as a wise, ethical man with a quick-witted sense of humor.

Due to the Statewide COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required indoors. Family and friends will gather for visitation at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service, located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd., in Jane Lew from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Graveside services will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Broad Run Church Cemetery in Jane Lew.
