CARROLL, William Raymond
September 24, 1920 – January 9, 2016


William (Bill) Raymond Carroll was born September 24, 1920 in Bermondsey, London. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Brenda and his four children Deborah, Paul, Pip, and Rosamond, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Bill was predeceased by his brother Peter and his two sisters Audrey and Renee. After Bill served in the RAF from 1940 to 1946, as a Bristol Beaufort Gunner, he and Brenda immigrated to Canada in 1947 and in 1950 built a home in West Vancouver. During Bill's career he went from designing structural engineering projects to become a world expert in logging and pulp machinery – mechanical engineering at its best! With what would be considered now a very basic education he ended his working life running his own consultancy with a large staff and a high reputation. After retiring in 1985 Bill and Brenda moved to Vancouver Island and had many adventures together travelling the world and, when at home, keeping an eye on their growing family. The Carroll family would like to give their thanks to Dr. Barre, the many wonderful home care nurses from North Shore Home Care and Palliative Services and North Shore Hospice Care. A service will be held at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd., North Vancouver, on Friday, January 22 at 10:00 a.m. with a casual gathering to follow at noon at the West Vancouver Legion Branch #60, 580 18th Street, West Vancouver.
