William Lodge Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 17 to Dec. 18, 2015.
William Murray Lodge
April 6, 1931 - December 13, 2015
Bill Lodge, 84, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on December 13 after a short bout with cancer.
Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patsy, his sons and their families, Murray & Kelly, William Henry and Thomas; Dan & Denise, Derrick, Audrey, and Denise's daughters, Mackenzie and Alexis; and Doug & Christine, Alex and Olivia. Bill is also survived by his brothers and their families, Norman "Tubbo" & Sandi, their children and grandchildren, Ed & Patti Anne and their children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Norman "Curly" Lodge, an infant son, Michael, and his youngest brother, Roland.
Bill was born April 6, 1931 in Caldwell, ID. He attended school in Caldwell and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1949. From there, Bill enrolled in the University of Idaho where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Immediately following his college graduation, Bill was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and entered active duty in the United States Air Force. He served his country as an Interceptor Controller in Germany. Bill was promoted to First Lieutenant in 1955 and ended his service with the Air Force in February 1956.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bill returned to Idaho where he worked at Lodge Motors in Caldwell for a few years before moving into the family's farming business in Marsing, ID. For over thirty years, Bill continued farming and ranching at Lodge Land & Livestock, the family's cow/calf ranching operation, in Jordan Valley, OR. Following the sale of the ranch and farm, Bill retired in 1997.
Bill loved music. He was a gifted piano player, and you would often find him sitting at his grand piano "tickling the ivories". Bill was also a beautiful singer. You could count yourself lucky to sit near him in church because you were sure to stay on key with Bill singing next to you.
Bill was a great example to all who knew him. He was a kind and loving man who was dedicated to his family, his friends, and his faith. He worked hard, he lived a full and healthy life, and he was respected by everyone. He was a man of integrity who had a strong handshake and a genuine interest in every person he knew or met. Bill had a beautiful spirit, and those who knew him will never forget the man he was.
A Rosary for Bill will be held on Sunday, December 20th, at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (1122 W. Linden Street, Caldwell). Bill's funeral service will be held Monday, December 21st, at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Valley. Following his burial at Canyon Hill Cemetery (2024 N. Illinois Avenue, Caldwell), there will be a reception at Hillcrest Country Club (4610 Hillcrest Drive, Boise).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, the Patsy Lodge Greatest Need Fund at the Idaho Community Foundation or a favorite charity of your choice. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com.

I have been blessed in my life to meet some of the best people this World has to offer. Although I only spent time with Bill and Patsy as a baby and young child... I somehow know that they had a huge impact on my life and my families life.

My father and godfather (Murray) always shared the best stories about Bill and I could always tell how much they love him.

I share a common connection with Bill because I was a Beta at the University of Idaho. Even though it wasn't my Dad's happiest moment (who was a Delt), it sure made Bill happy... Because once Bill heard the news that I chose to be a Beta, he wrote a hand written card expressing his happiness with my choice... Because that is the type of man he was and the impact he made on people.

I wish I got to spend more time with Bill and got to know him as a person... Because my favorite people on this planet hold Bill and Patsy in the highest regard.

I'm sure my Grandpas and Bill are sharing a Scotch together and someday I will join them all.

Thank you Bill for all that you've done and the life that you created.
