I remember Bill with much fondness. He was my professor at Lowell State College in Secondary Methods and String Methods in the early 70's. Bill was incredibly supportive of me at a time in my life when I needed a calm and non-anxious presence. Bill often encouraged me and was affirming of my skills and sensitivities for teaching children and youth. Later, when Bill knew that I had gone into the ministry, he was supportive again and said so. I am ever-so-grateful for having his presence in my life. I trust that he is now with our Maker and will await all of us to join him in making music eternally. My prayers for his family and friends,
The Rev. Mary (Daley) Bettencourt

Bill was a national leader in string education. He built up a great program in the Wayland Public Schools, where I "followed" in his tracks from 1973 on. His summer course at the Univ of Lowell gave me the great basics to begin my new career as a string education specialist. Thank you, Bill.
