Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 10, 2020.
William Eppes Proctor

Tallahassee - William Eppes Proctor, 22, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 6th, 2020. A senior at Florida State University, Will was an amazing young man with a truly bright future.

Will was born September 2, 1998, at Ft. Stewart, GA to Rob and Lesley Proctor. From an early age, Will had a zest for life, adventure, and family, and in 2001, he became a proud brother to Grace. Moving back and forth across the country as Army brats, often without their father who was deployed overseas, Will cultivated a special relationship with his sister. Always on the go, he remained active in sports, school and community events, and spending time with his friends and family.

Will graduated with honors from Newsome High School in Lithia, FL in 2017. While at Newsome, he was involved in many clubs and activities including President of Newsome's Student Government Association, captain of the Football and Track teams, and a member of the National Honor Society.

Attending his dream school, Will was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management/Insurance, expected to graduate in the spring of 2021. Will was a proud member and brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and served as Vice President of Recruitment. He served on the Board of Trustees and as a student leader for the FSU Student Foundation, and as a loyal member of Seminole Student Boosters. This fall, as a result of his demonstrated service, leadership, and loyalty, he was selected for the prestigious FSU Garnet and Gold Key leadership honor society.

Will embraced life to the fullest every day. Friends and family will remember Will's selfless spirit, positivity, kindness, bright smile, and his unique way of making you feel special and loved.

Will is survived by his adoring parents, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Robert Eppes and Lesley Langston Proctor; sister, Grace Ramsay Proctor; his paternal grandparents Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Robert C. and Janelle H. Proctor; maternal grandparents James and Ramsay Parham; maternal grandfather William Fenton Langston; aunts, Holley Miller (Cameron) and Virginia Ponder (Perry); and cousins Landon and Cole Miller, Peyton and Nicolas Ponder, Patrick and Michael Holley, Sarah Nan Haney, Meredith Carter, Bryan Cherry, Scott Carswell Jr., Jack Carswell, Bette Lynn Carswell, Alexandra Holley, Tanner Holley, T.J. Holley, Owen Holley, Sidney Holley, Taylor Haney, Kendall Haney, Alyssa Haney, Ava Carter, Ella Carter, and Austin Cherry; Great Uncles Hillman Holley (Becky), Scott Carswell (Julie); Great Aunts Peggy Brown (Charlie) and Nan Cherry.

A private family service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Tallahassee on Friday December 11, at 2:00 p.m., and livestreamed via https://www.saint-john.org/event/willproctorfuneral/ . Rob, Lesley and Grace, our hearts are broken. We have so many wonderful memories of Will but I'll share just a few, starting with the ride to preschool with that silly hampster that sung Kung Fu Fighting! Oh, how Will loved to torture Caitlyn with that one. The soccer games and Will's protests when Rob chose Caitlyn's team name suggestion "Green Machine" over his. Caitlyn remembers having fun with their 7th grade classmates as they tried to figure out how Will and Caitlyn went to pre-school together since Caitlyn had just moved to Fish Hawk??? And finally, Will's beautiful smile and ceaseless energy as he helped load our Christmas tree out in front of Newsome. We love you guys! The Rooms Family

Rob, I just want you to know that you are blessed with many brothers and a few sisters who are thinking of you and Leslie right now. Time and distance have no meaning when it comes to these ties. They can't be broken. God bless you and your family. Chris

Will was an amazing person who made everyone he met better. He could brighten up a room by just walking in. I coached him for 4 years and still remember the first time I met him with his wonderful smile and amazing work ethic. Will made everyone on the track team seem special and would make sure to talk to all of them and let them know it. He was not only a caring person but was so genuinely kind to everyone. He was truly loved by everyone he met and will truly be missed by all. I have coached a lot of kids in my career who have a special place in my heart and will was at the top of the list

I was a paraprofessional with the special needs kids at Newsome High School when Will was a student there. He paid a lot of attention to our kids in his spare time and even encouraged them to pursue football and track. The kids loved him and you could tell he loved them back. I’m so sorry for your loss of such a kind and caring young man.
