Barbara Leatherman Obituary
LAKEVIEW — Barbara A. Leatherman, 92, of Lakeview, OH died on Friday night, October 1, 2021, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, OH.
Barbara was born on August 11, 1929 in Hardin County, OH, a daughter of Richard and Ercile Longbrake Yocum. She married Joe Leatherman on August 24, 1947, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by four children, Mark (Lynzetta) Leatherman of Bellefontaine, Jo Ellen (Tim) Ward of Westerville, OH, Patricia (Jack) Smith of Waynesfield, OH, and Sallie Leatherman (Angelo) Chiazza of Mooresville, NC, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, her canine companion, Peppie Joe, and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a volunteer for the Mary Rutan Hospital Auxiliary Guild. She enjoyed attending the Kenton Coon Dog Trial with her husband, Joe, and garage sailing. She loved talking with people and was a kind and caring person who would help anyone she saw was in need.
Funeral services begin at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview. Visitation is Tuesday from 2-6 pm, and Wednesday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Burial is in Fairmount Cemetery, Waynesfield, OH.
Memorial contributions may be given in Barbara's memory to a local Meals on Wheels of the donor's choice.
