LIMA – Brenda Joyce Holbrook, age 76, passed away on February 5, 2023, at 7:30 a.m. at her residence. Brenda was born December 18, 1946, in Kenton, OH, to Frank and Agnes V. (Reed) Stephens who preceded her in death. On April 20, 1968, she married Billy "Bill" F. Holbrook who preceded her in death on January 21, 2011.

Additional survivors include her children: Camille "Tess" (Kip) Wohlgamuth of Lima, OH, Thomas "Eric" (Deron Wood) Holbrook of Lima, OH and Melinda "Mindy" Kay (Clay Caudill) Holbrook of Lima, OH, a grandson, Dylan Wohlgamuth, a granddaughter, Kyra Wohlgamuth, siblings: Michael L. (Mary) Stephens of Copperas Cove, TX, Thomas C. Stephens of Lima, OH, Theresa K. Ruble of Thomasville, GA, Richard A. Stephens of Lima, OH and Timothy F. Stephens of Lima, OH. She was preceded in death by a sister, Sherrilyn A. (Richard) Gottfried and a brother, Joe E. Stephens.

Brenda was a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High School. She then attended the St. Rita's School of Nursing graduating in 1967. She spent her entire career working as a LPN working with St. Rita's and a few area nursing homes retiring in 1995. When she retired, she continued her care giving role with taking care of her grandchildren, her parents and most recently her brother. Brenda was a former member of Ark of the Covenant Baptist Church. She liked listening to Bluegrass Christian music and the Gaithers. She also liked working crossword puzzles and coffee time with her family for a cup of her special brew. She dearly loved and missed her fur baby "Buddy".

There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jonathon Burkey. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.

Friends may visit on Friday from 4-6 p.m. and then again on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the Shawnee Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Deb's Dogs. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.

Dear Tess, Eric, and Mindy and Family, I was saddened to hear of the death of Tess, Eric and Mindy's mother, Brenda Holbrook (Chiles-Laman Funeral Home located in Lima, State of Ohio, United States of America and the Lima News (Newspaper) Monday, February 06, 2023 and Tuesday, February 07, 2023. It was always wonderful to participate in the Cast Iron Horseshoes Toss, the water balloon toss, playing Volleyball with a Volleyball Net and playing catch with a baseball, football, and with a plastic frisbee flying disc at the Stephens' Family Reunion located in Allen County, State of Ohio, United States of America and located in Lima, State of Ohio, United States of America located in Allen County, State of Ohio, United States of America. In past years and hopefully this year in 2023, I have purchased my Ohio State non-resident fishing license (12 months...one full calendar year) to go fishing in the Scioto River, the Ottawa River (11 feet depth of water of Hog Creek located in Allen County, State of Ohio, United States of America and located in Hardin County, State of Ohio, located in Allen County, State of Ohio) and Lima Lake (Reservoir large enough to accommodate an outboard motor powered motor boat) when we visit the Stephens' Family Reunion during the vacation time in July of 2023 and catch fish that are the proper size and creel limit of freshwater fish (Scioto River flows downstream to the Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico)(Ottawa River flows downstream to Lake Erie and the Blanchard River flows downstream to Lake Erie). I was saddened to see that Brenda had passed. I remember her from working at St. Rita's. She always had a big smile for you whether you were a patient or colleague. Please know she and the whole family are in my thoughts and prayers.
