Marion Arbogast Obituary

MARION ARBOGAST

McCOMB — Dr. Marion V. Arbogast, age 84, of McComb, died at 11:30am on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

He was born on April 16, 1930, in Seneca Township, Seneca County to the late Charles and Loretta (Reinhart) Arbogast. He married Kathleen (Katie) Wilhelm on June 18, 1955, and she died on October 6, 1999.

Doc graduated in 1948, from McCutchenville High School. He was in the United States Air Force from 1951-1953, serving as a dental hygienist. He did his undergraduate work at The Ohio State University and received his Doctorate of Dental Science degree there in 1960. He was a member of the Ohio State Presidents Club. He established his dental practice in McComb on July 9, 1960, and his daughter, Nancy joined the practice in 1983. He was a Pierre Fauchard recipient. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, the Northwest Ohio Dental Society (past president),and the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation. He was baptized at St. Patricks in Bascom, confirmed at St. Nicholas in Frenchtown and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Findlay, and the K of C. He enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting, playing euchre as well as extensive traveling. His favorite trip was in 2009, when he took all of his daughters to Israel. Doc had been a Rotarian for over 50 plus years, serving twice as the president, and having perfect attendance for 50 years, and a Paul Harris Fellow. Doc made up Rotary meetings over the years in 15 different countries. He was also a member of the McComb American Legion and the V.F.W., 40/8 Club, the Findlay Moose and Amvets. Doc was a very enthusiastic Buckeye Fan, having attended many games, including many Bowl Games over the years. He was particularly proud of Ohio State's Undisputed National Championship win on January 12th of this year.

Doc is survived by four daughters: Diane Arbogast of Findlay, Roxane (Gary) Strait of LaFollette, Tenn., Nancy Dysinger of Findlay, and Sharon (Dan) George of Germantown, Ohio. He also has three brothers: Harlan (Rosemary) Arbogast of Tiffin, Lester (Eloise) Arbogast of New Riegel, Louis Arbogast of Fostoria and two sisters: Marguerite (Gene) Boes of Alvada and Rita Mae (Robert) Kelbley of New Riegel. Doc has eight grandchildren: Douglas Girdler Jr., Matthew Girdler, Steven Girdler (Michelle), Josh Ferrell, Jared Ferrell (Kaylie), Rachel Dysinger, Melissa Dysinger, and Nathan George as well as five great grandchildren: Katie Girdler, Madilynn Girdler, Hayden Ferrell, Jaelihana Ferrell, and Jenisyn Ferrell. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Lou Ann Arbogast of Tiffin, Marion Arbogast of Marysville, and Dorothy Arbogast of Republic. Doc also has many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Norma Mae Arbogast; a grandson: Jacob George and five brothers: Paul, Lawrence, Urban, Eugene and Joseph. Doc also was blessed with a very special person, Cindy Kryling who worked for Doc for 40 years and has been like a sister to the girls.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, with a scripture service at 8 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Downtown. Rev. Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Memorials may be given to the Marion V. Arbogast Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation, 101 West Sandusky Street, Suite 207, Findlay, Ohio 45840 established for McComb Students, or to St. Michael the Archangel Church in his memory.
