Amos Parker Obituary

Amos Royal Parker, 87, of Elk Grove and formerly of Lodi, died March 3. He was born June 29, 1926 in San Pedro.  
Mr. Parker lived in Lodi for many years before moving to Elk Grove two years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy as a quartermaster second class during World War II. He later became a teacher and worked for Lodi Unified School District for 37 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed tending his plants and traveling in California. 
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Parker Hofer of Citrus Heights; sons, James Bradford Parker of Stockton and Richard Kingsbery Parker of Sacramento; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Logan Parker; son, David Stanton Parker; brother, Barr K. Parker; and a granddaughter. 
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Heritage Mausoleum at Lodi Memorial Park and Cemetery, 5750 E. Pine St., Lodi.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Music Department in Memory of Amos Parker, Lodi Unified School District, Accounting Department, 1305 E. Vine St., Lodi, CA 95240.
Donahue Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

I remember Mr. Parker as my first music teacher and as a neighbor on Elm St. My condolences to his family. I know he will be missed.

A wonderful man with a great sense of humor. He taught me to play clarinet back in the 50's at Woods school and later was a patient in my dental practice.
