Anne Baer Obituary

Baer, Anne M.

Anne (Murphy) Baer, a long-time Blauvelt resident, passed away peacefully on October 31st after a brief illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by loving family and friends, reminiscing about good times past and listening to all her favorite music. She lived a rich, full life as a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. After working for several years as an aide at St. Dominic's in Blauvelt she then spent 20 years at Prentice Hall as an Accounting Supervisor before retiring in 1995. She devoted many years volunteering for her church, St. Catharine's in Blauvelt and worked for many years for the Board of Elections. In her retirement years she was involved with local organizations such as the Blauvelt Free Library, the Catholic Daughters and the Morning Music Club.

She was born in NYC on September 14, 1931 to William and Lillian (Masterson) Murphy. In May 1954, she married the love of her life, Carl Baer who predeceased her in 1983. She was also predeceased by her parents, her devoted and loving brother, Joseph Murphy, her sister-in-law, Sr. Bernadette Baer, her son-in-law Michael Quinn and many other beloved family and friends. In her heyday, she loved to travel. She had a strong intellect along with a life-long passion for reading. She kept her mind sharp by reading the newspapers and watching Jeopardy on a daily basis. She derived her greatest joy spending time with family and friends and took great pride in her role as matriarch of the Baer family. She could often be seen beaming as she recounted the accomplishments of any one of her nine children or 17 grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Bill Baer, Paul Baer, Barbara and Matt Aubin, Ray and Cindy Baer, Denise and Nick Apuzzo, Chris and Megan Baer, Helen Quinn, Maureen and Bill Aitchison, Ed and Lisa Baer. She leaves behind her greatest legacy in her 17 grandchildren; Amy Aubin, Chris and Katie Aubin, Carly Apuzzo and Danny Smith, Douglas Baer, Daniel Apuzzo, Brian Baer, Julianne Quinn, Kimberly Apuzzo and fiancé Shaun Wright, Sarah Aitchison, Samantha Quinn, Tess Aitchison, Kellie Baer, Henry Baer, Grace Baer, Liam Aitchison, Sophie Baer, Jeanine and Joe Sparacin and her great granddaughter, Lily Apuzzo. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bill Baer, his wife Bernadette, their six sons and families.

Anne's family will receive friends at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan on Saturday, November 4 from 6-9pm and on Sunday, November 5 from 1-4pm and from 6-9pm. A Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 6 at 10am at St. Catharine's Church in Blauvelt. She will be interred at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's name may be made to The Morning Music Club, Attention: Bernice Rice Gerstein, 4 Baltic Court, New City, NY 10956

Dear children of Anne and Carl,
My earliest meeting with your family was as a young helper at St. Catherine's Holy name Society. Carl would bring the needed utensils from his restaurant to both the Society and CYO functions. I letterhead the distinct privilege of having you all in my home room and most of you in my classes. You were and are all great. I told Anne that when Ed graduated I would personally carry the desk you all sat in in room 201. I loved you all and your parents as well. If I could sing, I would gladly offer, "Thanks for the Memories." All my love, condolences and gratitude to the entire Baer family,
Mike Smith
