Marilyn O'Brien Obituary
Marilyn O'Brien passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2012 surrounded by her four children. Born on July 4th, 1931 in NYC to the late Brigid and John Mercer. Marilyn was a legal secretary and worked for the Town of Orangetown. She was a graduate of Thorpe Secretarial School in Manhattan.
She was loved by her family. She was a caring, generous mother who was always there to help. She was a doting grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren with toys and candy. She was a thoughtful and loyal friend and a devoted sister to her brother Charlie Mercer and his wife Maureen as well as her sister-in-law Maureen Griffin.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sylvester O'Brien, who died on February 1st, 2012.
She is survived by her brother Charles Mercer of Tappan NY; her children, Jeanne Cummings (O'Brien) of Valley Cottage NY, Dan O'Brien of Warwick NY, Christine O'Brien of Austin TX, and Steven O'Brien of Charlotte NC; her nine grandchildren, Matthew Cummings, Emmett O'Brien, Siobhan O'Brien, Julia O'Brien, and Colleen O'Brien, Emily Davis and Timmy Davis, and Michael O'Brien and Meghan O'Brien.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 17th, 10am, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan. Visiting hours will be Sunday, December 16th, 2 - 4 and 7- 9pm at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan.
