Young, Philip E.

Philip E. Young of Armonk, NY, formerly of Pelham, died peacefully on July 7, 2011 at the age of 86. Born August 28, 1924 to Robert Perry and Celine F. Young of Pelham, Phil graduated from Pelham High School class of '42 and is an alumnus of Princeton University and Columbia University. He served in the US Navy in World War II and the Korean Conflict, and retired from the US Naval Reserve as Lt. Commander. Phil was a Chartered Life Underwriter and respected insurance and pension executive. Having a private pilot's license since 1949, one of his favorite joys was flying. He was a member of "The Quiet Birdmen" group and the "Breakfast Club" and very well known at Westchester Airport. Also active with the American Legion, and an avid skier, golfer and outdoorsman and a friend to all.

Survived by his beloved wife Dorothy of 56 yrs., his devoted daughters Wendy and Pamela and her fianc? Raymond Strobel, his niece Suzy F. Stevens and nephew Alex P. Felson and their families. Predeceased by his sister Celine Young Felson. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of West. /Putnam, 540 White Plains Rd., Tarrytown, NY 10591.
