Rae Faith Robinson

White Plains - Rae Faith Van Wart Robinson, a lifelong White Plains resident, passed away peacefully, October 10. She was born June 4, 1925 to Raymond V. and Susan V Robinson. She attended Middlebury College and graduated from Columbia University School of Library Services. From 1950 to 1980 she was a member of the faculty of Hunter College where she was Head Cataloger in the Library Department. Professor Robinson was a member of the American Association of University Professors, and a life member of the American Library Association. She had been listed in the "Who's Who of American Women" and in "A Biographical Directory of Librarians in the United States and Canada. After her retirement she served on the boards of the Friends of the White Plains Public Library and the White Plains Garden Club, and was a member of the Woman's Club of White Plains, The White Plains Historical Society and the College Club of White Plains. Professor Robinson has been a member of the White Plains Presbyterian Church since 1941. She was a direct descendent of Isaac F. Van Wart who with John Paulding and David Williams, thwarted Benedict Arnolds plans to deliver West Point to the British in the American Revolution, when they captured Major John Andre in1780 in Tarrytown. A medal, created by Congress was presented to Van Wart by George Washington. Faith is survived by her cousins, James, Frances, Margaret and Patricia Murray and many kind friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Friends of Animals, and National Anti-Vivisection Society. A graveside service will be held, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 12 PM, at White Plains Rural Cemetery.
