My earliest memories of Uncle Billy include Amboy Drive. In the early part of 1950 I had been discharged from Children's Hospital in Louisville and I stayed with Uncle Billy and Aunt Pat pending the return train ride back to Fancy Farm. My later memories include standing around the card table watching in order to learn the proper way to play and win at cut throat. No matter which cards were delt to him, Uncle Billy played them while staying cool and calm. I will remember his laughter and his enjoyment of life. He will remain a true Kentucky Gentleman in my memories.

I remember the Church picnics, cookouts, card games and Derby parties with Billy and Pat. The love they showed for the Warren and Lucille Robinette family will not be forgotten. Vivat Jesus Billy!

Kathy, I am so sorry I did not make it to the funeral home and even more so for your loss. It will get easier and you will eventually find yourself doing things he taught you or repeating something he used to say and everytime you think of him you will bring him closer to your heart. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Aunt Pat, Lynn, Leo, Karen, Nellie, and Kathy,
I am very sorry to hear of Uncle Billys' death. I know he will be missed within the entire extended Hobbs family. I will have fond memories of him at the family events starting with the baseball games at Papa Hobbs yard. He was always a gentlemen and a caring person, and although we did not see him around Fancy Farm as often as Uncle Dewey and Uncle Earl, he always made me feel like he knew me and wanted me to be happy with my life. I always saw the love he had for you Pat, and of course his family. He was competetive (card games like all of us, but always happy whoever won.
Again, my and Maryanne's thoughts and prayers will be with you---and know that a good man has been called to watch over the rest of us.

Billy's dad and my grandfather were the best of friends. Billy, his kids and brothers at LAP watched after me when I came to town in 1981. I cherish the guidance and counsel he provided. I cherished his friendship and caring nature. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

I received a call from my uncle in Louisville this morning, telling me about Billy's death. I quickly thought of all the memories of all the derby parties in Lively Shively, hosted by Billy and his brothers and Lucille. I am sure he will be grinning down from heaven Derby Day at all of you!
