Marie Feibes Obituary

FEIBES, MARIE MARJORIE, 80, of Louisville, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at her home after a short battle with cancer. She was born Marie Molloy in Schenectady, NY on March 15, 1928, the fifth of nine siblings. On July 9th she and her husband, Walter Feibes, retired professor at Bellarmine University, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Throughout her life, her artistic and creative talents were expressed through designing and sewing clothes, gardening and drawing. She was passionate about music and loved good conversation. She was devoted to her family and friends. In her later years she took great pleasure in being with her grandchildren. She was one of the first female draftsmen at General Electric and was a long time volunteer for various charities. Marie was an exceptional role model for living a life of depth and richness in spite of challenges resulting from infantile polio. She treated everybody she met with dignity and respect. She is survived by her husband, Walter Feibes; three children, Elisabeth Contadino (Bob), Erica Feibes and Mark Feibes (Kelly); and four grandchildren, Mariah, Noah, Nathan and Helen. Private burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to The Chamber Music Society of Louisville, Univ. of Louisville, Louisville, KY 40292.

Dear Uncle Walter, Mark, Erica,Elisabeth, and Mariah, Noah,Nathan, and Helen. I would like to share a memory. I remember one day walking in the stockade area with Erica and Aunt Marie. We had a debate about an individuals ability to learn. Is it genetic or environmental.
Its not the subject of the conversation that sticks out, but how i was treated. I look back at that time. I feel that this was my first adult conversation that i was treated with respect and acknowledgment. Since then this is the bar that is set for all others to meet. I will always Love Aunt Marie for that. My thoughts are with you all.
Peace and Love
