Randolph Langford Obituary

Langford, Randolph F. "Randy" Jr.,

71, of Milledgeville, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the Oconee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Randy was born on October 28, 1943, in Hartsville, TN. He is the son of the late Randolph F. Langford, Sr. and Beatrice Beasley Langford. After graduating from Trousdale County High School, he attended college at the University of Chattanooga and the University of Kentucky, graduating with a degree in business in 1965.

Following graduation from college Randy served in the United States Army and was a Purple Heart Veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army Randy began his career with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation as a Purchasing Buyer in Louisville, KY. In 1990, Randy was transferred to the Purchasing Department in Macon, Georgia, where he retired with 25 years of service.

Because of Randy's time in the Army and career with Brown and Williamson he had opportunities to travel and see much of the world but there was never any place like home for Randy. After retiring Randy and his wife, Connie, moved to Milledgeville, Georgia where he settled into a quiet, peaceful and contented life that retirement offers. Randy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Randy is survived by his wife, Connie Kicklighter Langford; his sons, Trey Langford and his wife Monica of Boise, ID, and John Langford and his wife Christine of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Tucker, Lincoln, Emma, and Ellie; and special friend and mother of his children, Susan Langford.

A graveside funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 3, at 11 a.m. in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville with military honors. Reverend Ken Walker will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Headquarters, Attn: Donations, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33309-2130 or by visiting www.msfocus.org/Donate-in-Honor.aspx, or to a charity of your choice.
