Arthur Batsakis Obituary
U.S. Army WWII Veteran
LOWELL -- Mr. Arthur "Gunk" Batsakis, of Lowell, died peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at a local nursing home, after an extended illness, aged 84 years.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 30, 1927, a son of the late John and Irene (Haritopoulos) Batsakis. Arthur was a U. S. Army WWII Veteran, and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation medal.
He was a truck driver, used car lot owner, and mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, and playing guitar.
He is survived by a sister, Helen Varitimos and her husband, Nicholas of Methuen; a brother, Peter Batsakis and his wife, Valentina Licciardo of Dracut; two nieces, Niki Ayotte and her husband, Alan of Pelham, NH, and Maria Nightingale of Methuen; seven nephews, Chris Varitimos and his wife, Mary Lou of Lawrence, James Batsakis, Paul Batsakis, John P. Batsakis and his wife, Sharon, Chris, Michael and Andrew Batsakis; and several grandnephews and grandnieces, all of whom he loved dearly.
BATSAKIS -- Being his request, funeral services will be private. Arrangements entrusted to MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Blvd., the Highlands. Funeral Directors, Frederick W. my condolences to the batsakis family. i knew gunk thrrough my brother in law dave stanton. he was allways a nice guy to me and the one time i delivered food to him on middlesex st he tipped me very good lol . may he rest in peace. james varounis.

I give my condolances to the family of Gunk He taught me alot in the time I knew him like a farther figure I spent many days-years hanging around the car lot we worked on cars played cards talked joked about all his ways he acted his competiveness in all he did snowmobiling Boating all his girlfriends I just had numbers for them like a deli and when it was hot he would run the air conditioning for the dog ,but if I put the air on he would shut it off I told him the dog rated higher then me lol. we had a lot of laughs about that. love you Gunk may you rest in peace with peppi and may we meet again in the after life I'm sure you will find a way to make that happen your friend DAVE STANTON p.s.Pete please get some pictures or momentoes I would sure appriciate that.And see you when you come to florida Pete.
