Many years ago my three children were patients of Dr. Lingerman and we spent many hours together. I remember his soft, reassuring voice and kindness. Our family remembers him fondly.

I have fond memories of a long friendship with Byron. We had the pleasure of being contemporary ophthalmology residents at the Mass Eye and Ear around 1957-1960.
He was always kind and generous; his academic achievements were unknown to most of us. He was a blessing to his friends and patients and to MEEI.
Several years ago, he hosted a reunion with MEEI friends at his wonderful Nantucket home. It provided a beautiful and lasting memory.
We will miss him.
