He was the husband of Helen A. Tynan, his beloved wife of 54 years.
He was born in Somerville, Mass., on June 26, 1934. He resided in Billerica before moving to Port Charlotte in 1990.
Mr. Tynan served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a retired electrical contractor who had owned and operated an electrical contracting business. Mr. Tynan was a member of the Massachusetts Electrical Contractors Association.
He was a member and treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #82, in Port Charlotte, and a 24-year member the Billerica Lodge of Elks Lodge BPO #2071. Mr. Tynan was of the Roman Catholic faith and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 5399 in Port Charlotte, family members said.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles F. Tynan Jr. of Port Charlotte; two grandchildren, Derek A. and Nicole A. Tynan, both of Port Charlotte; a brother, Edward J. Tynan of Dracut; and a sister, Judith A. Pierce of Lowell.
He also leaves three nieces and a nephew.
