September 4, 1928 -- November 9, 2012

LITTLETON, MA -- James (Jim) F. Champney, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2012, in Orlando, FL.

James was born in Fitzwilliam, NH, on September 4, 1928 to Julia Agnes (Jones) and Frederick James Champney, and had made his home in Littleton, MA since 1949.

Growing up in Henniker, NH, Jim worked as a farmer and enjoyed working in the woods as a professional lumberjack. In the 1960s, he was the part time custodian at Littleton's townhouse on Foster Street. He retired in 1990 after working 25 years at San-Vel Concrete Corporation, later acquired by Lonestar.

After retirement, Jim kept active with landscaping and handyman work.

He loved tinkering with small engines, clocks, small electronics, restoring antique furniture and spending time working in the woods on his property in Warner, NH. His hobby was going to garage sales and flea markets.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Moreau) Champney, who passed on March 31, 2008, his brothers, Alva, Hiram, Alwin and Richard, along with his grandson, Ryan T. Champney.

Jim is survived by son, Wesley and his partner, Lee Williams, of Orlando, FL; daughter, Lauri Fritz and her husband, Samuel, of Littleton; and son, Gregg and his wife, Jodi, of Littleton. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Cory Champney and his wife, Tanya of Demorest, GA, Amy Rosas of Ayer, and Kelly Rosas of Chelmsford; along with sister, Marion Lemire of Henniker, NH; and a host of relatives and friends.
