Elaine Pung Obituary
Grand Ledge - Elaine Pung, 83, of Grand Ledge, MI, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2020. She was born July 3, 1937 in Westphalia, MI, daughter of Alfred F. and Mabel E (Bertram) Spitzley. After graduating from St Mary's High School in Westphalia as Salutatorian Elaine went to work for the State of Michigan and retired in 1992. She sold Avon for over 25 years, enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers, painting ceramics, taking photos (especially when people were eating) and was a talented seamstress sewing many of her daughters' clothes. In her retirement years Elaine wintered in Arizona where she loved playing BINGO and being a tour guide to all who visited. Elaine will be remembered as always smiling, being extremely organized, extending kindness to others and giving the best hugs. Above all, the love for her husband of 61 years was by far her greatest joy in life.
She is survived by daughters: Julie Pung and Lisa (Patrick) McCarty; grandchildren: Meghan (Donald) Pearce, Chelsea Douglas, Jacob Douglas, and Kirsten McCarty; great grandchildren: Elliott and Donald "Troy"; brothers, Larry and Alex (Joan) Spitzley; sisters, Mabel Feldpausch and Sue (Chuck) Thelen; many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Ronald, sister-in-law Kathie Spitzley, and brother-in-law, Roy Feldpausch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 14 2020, 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge by Father James Eisele. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5:00 pm at Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. The family would like to give a special thanks to the home health caregivers who took excellent care of her these last few years. As well as the wonderful nurses and staff of the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. My heart goes to you girls. Lost my mom 10 years ago my dad 50 years ago. The void is big. I worked with your mom at Social Services in the Personnel Office. She was a delight. We sat back to back in our little cubies. She listened to me and my troubles for many a day. Was a single parent and she was a wonderful person to me. Enjoy your memoires of your mom and dad and know they will always be in your hearts. diana tait.
