Fred Kruger Obituary

Fred L. Kruger Traverse City Mr. Kruger passed away March 22, 2010 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City after an extended illness at the age of 96. He was a lifelong resident of the Grand Ledge Area, and had resided with his daughter, Suzanne, for the past 8 years in Traverse City. Fred was born on the family farm in Muir, Michigan on March 21, 1914, the son of Leonard and Jessie (Bivins) Kruger. He was a graduate of Muir High School and was employed by Fisher Body of Lansing for 35 years in Quality Control. On June 3, 1941 he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving as a Staff Sgt. In the New 89th Div., CO.E. 320 Battalion of General Patton's 3rd Army. He was discharged November 1945 and continued in the army reserve until the Korean War. After his marriage to Elizabeth (Bette) Kebler in 1945, they purchased a dairy farm and raised a family. Fred enjoyed working and was known as a man who could fix or build anything. He was a devoted family man and showed tremendous love and respect for animals. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bette; his brothers, Earl Kruger of Riverdale, Kenneth Kruger of Grand Ledge, Donald Kruger of Lansing; sisters, Ruth (Kruger) Hills of Muir and Dorothy (Kruger/Lawless) Glading of Lyons; and sister-in-law, Elaine Kruger of Grand Ledge. He is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Gordon) Cornwell of Traverse City and Patricia Coger of Auburn; 5 grandchildren: Stacey (Andrew) Hasse of Ashland, VA, Wesley (Sher) Cornwell of Traverse City, Sarah (Charles) Hubbell of Traverse City, James (Dulcie) Rice of Grand Ledge and Marcella (Brook) Fisher of Lantana, FL; 9 great-grandchildren, Andrew Cornwell, Tyler Cornwell, Nick Tafelsky, Emily Hasse, Garrett Rice, Maya Kedmi, Blake Fisher, Madeline Fisher, and Makenna Fisher. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Geneva Wiskemann of Lansing. Fred's family will receive friends on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, 301 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge, MI. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 26, 2010 - 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Portland, 421 E. Bridge St., Portland, MI 48875, with Pastor Marilyn Danielson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen Devos Children's Hospital. Fred was a very special person. I took care of him at Tendercare, and I got to know him well. He always had a smile for me, and I will always remember him. My prayers are with you all, thank you for letting us get to know him.

I am sending my love and prayers to the Family of Fred Kruger. He was a very special man and held a special place in my heart. I was saddened to hear of his passing. I took care of Fred at Tendercare Nursing home. I was his A-Hall aide Lori. The last thing he said to me was your an angel and I will never forget that. I will truely miss Fred. I pray that his family will find peace. Love to you all Lori
