Leonard Fitz Obituary

Leonard A. "Hank" Fitz Lansing, MI Born in Tuscola County, MI, on October 18, 1915, the son of Louis and Anna (Shofranko) Fitz; died June 4, 2008, at the age of 92. Leonard graduated from Lansing's Eastern High School and was a veteran of WWII having served in Europe as a Corporal with the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1976 from Oldsmobile after 40 years as a Machinist and was an avid golfer and bowler. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Maryon A. Fitz, Louis L. Fitz, Mandy A. (Jim) Williams and Charles J. (JoAnn) Fitz; 7 great-nieces and nephews; 5 great-great-nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Mary Jo Houck and Margaret "Faye" Scarbro. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Lugger as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, with Military Graveside services being provided by V.F.W. Morley S. Oates Post #701. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing, MI 48910 in memory of Leonard "Hank" Fitz. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing.
